POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN TUBERCULOSIS DRUG DISCOVERY – University of Pavia (Italy)


The Mycobacteriology Laboratory at the University of Pavia is seeking a highly motivated
Postdoctoral Researcher to join an international research program focused on tuberculosis drug
discovery and the investigation of antimicrobial resistance mechanisms in Mycobacterium
tuberculosis.
The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary and internationally connected research
environment involved in major collaborative initiatives in tuberculosis research, including
partnerships with leading academic and industrial groups.

Research activities will include:

  • Evaluation of novel anti-tubercular compounds and drug combinations
  • Investigation of mechanisms of action and resistance of new antitubercular drugs
  • Development and application of microbiological and molecular assays
  • Identification of biomarkers supporting preclinical drug development
  • Participation in collaborative international projects in antimicrobial drug discovery.

Required qualifications:

  • PhD in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Infectious
    Diseases, or related disciplines;
  • Good written and spoken English.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM),
    or other pathogenic bacteria;
  • Experience in BSL3 laboratories;
  • Expertise in antimicrobial susceptibility testing, bacterial genetics, genomics, or drug
    discovery platforms.

The position is based at the Department of Biology and Biotechnology “Lazzaro Spallanzani”,
University of Pavia, Italy.
